Serra da Palmeira wind complex of CTG Brasil reached its full commission

2025-10-16

On Oct. 8th local time, CTG Brasil’s Serra da Palmeira wind complex, successfully commissioned its 108th turbine, officially connecting to the grid and achieving its full-capacity operation. It is the largest overseas greenfield wind power project of its parent company, that is China Three Gorges Corporation in terms of installed capacity. Construction of the project began two years ago in Oct. 2023.

The project locates in the State of Paraiba in northeastern Brazil, boasting a total installed capacity of 648 MW (108x6 WM). It is expected to deliver an average of about 2.55 billion kWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power approximately 720,000 households—equivalent to saving about 779,000 tonnes of standard coal or cutting 2,125,000 tonnes of CO₂emissions each year. The power is designed to be transmitted by its 500 kilo-volts substation and connected with the national grid via its 75km long transmission lines.

CTG Brasil reinforces its commitment to sustainability and regional development through this project. The project is expected to contribute to the national energy matrix, especially in the northeastern part of the country, in addition to fostering social inclusion and, consequently, stimulating local economic growth towards a greener and more sustainable future.
